The Games of the Small States of Europe, known as the GSSE, are a kind of mini Olympics for the smallest countries on the continent. Nine nations, from Iceland to Cyprus, bring their athletes together for a week of competition across many sports, and in 2027 the host is Monaco.
The 21st edition runs from Monday 17 to Saturday 22 May 2027, with the delegations arriving on Sunday 16 May and leaving on Sunday 23. It is the third time Monaco has hosted the Games, after 1987 and 2007. Whether you are coming with a national team, to support one, or simply to watch, we take care of getting you here, moving you around and getting you home.
What you'll see
Nine countries take part: Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro and San Marino. For a week the Principality fills with their athletes, coaches and officials, and with the families and fans who travel to cheer them on.
To give a sense of scale, the last edition, in Andorra in 2025, brought together more than 1,000 athletes in 19 disciplines. One change for Monaco 2027 is already confirmed: golf is back, for the first time since Iceland in 2015, with individual and team events.
The Games are organised by the Comité Olympique Monégasque, which will publish the full list of sports, the venues and the timetable. We will add them to this page as soon as they are out.
When and where
Competitions run from Monday 17 to Saturday 22 May 2027, across the Principality. The Games were first planned for early May and moved two weeks later after changes to the Formula 1 and Formula E calendars, which tells you how full Monaco's spring is. The technical commission has already toured the venues that will host the events.
Monaco is two square kilometres of steep streets, with little parking even on a quiet day. That week, nine national teams, their officials and their supporters all need to reach the same venues at the same hours. Getting everyone there on time is the part we handle.
How we organise it for you
Arrival. The delegations land on Sunday 16 May, most of them at Nice Côte d'Azur. We meet you in arrivals, follow your flight so we're there even if it's late, and drive you to your hotel: about 30 km, usually 30 to 45 minutes. A whole team with kit bags? We send a coach with a full luggage hold, or two.
During the Games. For teams, minibuses and coaches on a fixed loop between the hotels, the venues and training, with one coordinator who knows the timetable and moves the plan when a session runs late. For officials, sponsors and guests, a driver at your disposal, by the hour or for the day.
On the water. Once the competitions are over, CME Yacht, our own charter company, can take a team or a family out along the Riviera for the day, or on a sunset cruise to celebrate.
Departure. On Sunday 23 May we take everyone back to the airport, the station or the next stop, in one movement or in waves to match the flights.

Can you move a whole national team and its equipment?
Yes. Coaches up to 55 seats with a full luggage hold, 19-seat minibuses and Mercedes V-Class vans for up to seven, with one coordinator for the whole week. Athletes, staff and bulky kit can travel together or separately.
How early should we book for May 2027?
As soon as your dates and numbers are clear. Every delegation lands on the same Sunday and leaves on the same Sunday, so transport for a team is planned weeks ahead. A simple airport transfer can usually be arranged up to the day before.
